Gog is a Title of the Antichrist/Beast.
But, there are two other Gogs, one before and one after the Beast. The Gogs are all descended from Magog, a descendant of Japheth, after the flood.
All the following seem to be the second Gog:
The: Beast, Antichrist, Little Horn, Lawless One, Son of Perdition and possibly the ‘Prince Who Is to Come’

But, to understand, we must examine the Messianic Numbers 24:7 prophesy:
Balaam, a man who knew YHWH and was gifted with the spirit of prophesy, nevertheless corrupted his gift for money. He mixed it with divination and was not concerned with truth. Around 1440 BC, when the Israelites were in the dessert traveling toward the promised land, Balak the King of Moab was concerned when he saw them setting up camp as they were passing through his territory. So he called on Balaam. King Balak offered Balaam a high price to prophesy bad things against Israel, essentially to put a curse on them.
But, God Almighty sent His spirit strongly onto Balaam so that he’d know the truth and not be able to resist telling about the greatness of the future seed (King) of the Messianic Kingdom of Israel. 7 times God made the truth come out of Balaam’s mouth, including when he said:

I see him, but not here and now. I perceive him, but far in the distant future. (Numbers 24:17)
God revealed the Messianic Era to Balaam.
God caused Balaam the prophet not to be able to resist making 7 true prophesies about the Israelites and their future glory. After speaking against his own will, Balaam was angry and wanted revenge. So he taught Balak, the King of Moab how they could lead the Israelites into terrible sin.

The verse that you just read, Numbers 24:7, is the Literal Standard Version, which is unique in that it draws upon both the Septuagint and the Masoretic texts of the Old Testament.

In the Septuagint version of this verse, ‘Gog’ is the title of the final enemy of Israel, before the Messianic Era begins.
But, most English Bibles on anyone’s bookshelf today say Agag! Why?
The Hebrew Bible was ‘revived,’ long after the Hellenistic period ended. (The Jews had become very Hellenized even by ~200 BC, almost forgetting to speak Hebrew; which is why the Hebrew Bible was saved by being translated into Koine Greek). About 1,300 years later, certain Rabbinical Jews, the Masorites, tried to remedy that by reconstituting the Tanach (Old Testament) in Hebrew using the Masoretic Text, a version which had ‘diacritics’ which they added to indicate vowel sounds. Normal Hebrew had only consonants, assuming people knew the vowels, but obviously they had been long forgotten. The Masoretic Tanakh was probably completed in the 10th century AD, although it wasn’t published until 1524 AD. The Masorites are the ones who substituted ‘Agag’ for Gog.
Why?
The Messianic theme of this passage was an extremely touchy issue with them, because they’re the ones God Almighty holds responsible for the crucifixion of His Son whose name is ‘Yeshuah’ in Hebrew (meaning Savior) and ‘Mashiach’ (meaning anointed one), or Jesus (Savior) Christ (anointed one). (He’s also called God the Son, the Worthy One who is the exact likeness of YHWH in the flesh, perfect and sinless.)

Unfortunately, almost all available Bibles, even the King James Bible, used the Masoretic text as the only source from which they’ve translated the Old Testament!

I’ve been trying to find it in the the Dead Sea Scrolls (4Q27) but the Numbers 24:7 verse seems to be missing from the fragment! (Hmm, I recently found out that chapter 9 of Daniel is also missing – hmmm, other highly sensitive Messianic passages!)
Gog is the head of the fully formed Beast
The world will be awed by the rapid revival of the 7th head of the beast. I think it’ll be a unified Islamic State (or Caliphate) coming in great power.

The world will be frightened by its threats but also seduced by its power, wealth, deceptions and influence. It will be greatly overbearing upon the world, becoming its preeminent power for 42 months.
In St. John’s vision from the Lord, which he described in the Book of Revelation, the seven heads of the Beast in chronological order represent:
1. Egyptian Empire
2. Assyrian Empire
3. Babylonian Empire
4. Medo-Persian Empire
5. Greek Empire
6. Roman Empire
7. Islamic Empire
They were the great gentile empires of middle Earth, the main historical enemies of Hebrew Israel.
In St. John’s vision, the seventh head of the Beast suffered a fatal head wound.
That’s the Islamic Caliphate, which ceased to exist in 1924 after the Ottoman Caliphate was defeated in WW1. It was decapitated when its head (Caliph) was replaced by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, a secular president, and the empire ceased to exist. But roots remained, that later came out as horns, ten of them were significant and a new head will come up out of them.

The Decapitation of the Caliphate is the Fatal Head Wound.
It was a seemingly fatal head wound in St. John’s vision. But, St. John also saw that the ‘seventh head’ will be revived (a Caliph will arise again). The Caliph or the ‘Mahdi’ will be considered as the ‘eighth head’ of the beast.
St. John wrote that the eighth head will replace the seventh head; It will be ‘of the (spirit of the) seven’ and will drive the whole Beast.
It will be the ultimate Beast, which will reign for the last 42 months of the 6,000 years of God Almighty’s allotment for mankind’s rebellion.
It may have its most severe impact on the ‘greater MENA (Middle East, North Africa area) in the beginning, because the concept of ‘the world’ in the Bible is from the vantage point of Jerusalem. The territories/ethnicities of the end time Gog coalition of Ezekiel 38, all have their roots in most of the nations directly surrounding Israel today.
People of the whole world will succumb to the ‘Beast’ and worship him, or submit to him in other ways, such as bowing down to him or his image. The true living Almighty God will allow the satanically empowered Beast Empire to become the preeminent world power, for the described ‘short time,’ in order that it may fully express its evil intent against God and all God’s – people to its own utter condemnation. It’s also being used to test the Jews, bringing 1/3 of them to salvation.
When the Cup of its Wickedness Reaches Fullness
Jesus Christ will return to conquer and overthrow it, the entire Beast System. He’ll throw the Beast and his ‘false prophet’ into the ‘lake of fire,’ which was originally made for satan and his fallen angels – burning torment without end; And the Beast’s followers will be degraded and killed, but they won’t actually be judged until after the 1,000 year Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ, when the dead will be raised naked into their old reconstituted bodies, to be judged.
The Millennial Kingdom will be ruled with an ‘iron rod’ by Jesus Christ Himself as King of Kings and High Priest, along with all His saints, who are Priests; His saints will also be the judges. Some of His saints will be enforcers of justice and Jesus will assign some of them to be princes and ‘kings’ over the remaining nations. The following verse is an example of that, to the ‘over comers’ of the Church of Thyatyra, which had the difficult challenge of overcoming the local sub-culture, which required extreme sexual and spiritual sin to be practiced in order for anybody to join a guild so they could get the higher paying jobs.
To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations —
‘He will rule them with an iron rod;
he will dash them to pieces like pottery’ —
just as I have received authority from my Father. (Revelation 2:26-27 )
Will Christ’s saints be allowed to use force in the Millennial Kingdom?
Vengeance belongs to God. All people have sinned against God Almighty and are only saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ’s perfect blood. Therefore, saints during this present ‘age of grace’ must deal with unrepentant sinners with compassion, by preaching the Gospel of salvation to them out of love, realizing they’re lost souls, just as we used to be. That includes giving the necessary warnings.
But, after our old ‘sin bodies’ are shed and replaced with Jesus’ gift to us of glorified bodies, that have no sin nature; only then, will some saints be assigned to righteously enforce Jesus Christ’s iron rod rule in His Millennial Kingdom, where sin will not be allowed to take a foothold. (The Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ is not the same as the New Heavens and New Earth that Father God will speak into existence 1,000 years later where there’s no mention of such things.)

Our greatest purpose in the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ will be as priests, a worshipful role in which we’ll also intercede on the behalf of sinners. But God never changes. His goodness and love define Him, but there is no real love without justice. Father God will avenge the ones He loves in the cases where they are mistreated by wrongdoers during the Millennium. From what I gather, it is only those who’ve overcome the particular challenges of just one church type, who’ll be assigned an enforcement role. As mentioned above, that’s the Church of Thyatira, which is the church type that allowed the infiltration of extreme sexual immorality into itself via tolerating an occult priestess to remain among them, enticing them to pagan rituals for economic gain.
The Reason for the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ is to fulfill God’s Promises to Abraham
It’s also the last test for the elect of fallen humanity. For the first time, humanity will be under ‘righteous rule’. The King of Righteousness, Jesus Christ will have chosen only those He deems ‘sheep’ and not goats, to enter His earthly kingdom, but they will still have the corrupt sin nature that they inherited from Adam. The age of grace will have ended. Some form of Old Covenant Law will be instituted. Animal sacrifices will be required, but sin will be greatly reduced.
