Was it because He didn’t want to fully expose His plan to rescue His bride to jealous satan, at least until after He defeated death and won the decisive battle?

St. Paul wrote in Ephesians 3:3 “that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. In reading this then, you’ll be able to understand my insight into the ‘mystery of Christ,’ which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now (after Christ’s ascension) having been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. “

As mentioned above, the apostles were recorded as having been mistaken in assuming that second coming was going to happen in their lifetimes; None of them had received the Holy Spirit by the time that Jesus gave His Olivet Discourse. None of them were able to understand certain things, such as what Jesus meant when he said “Destroy this temple and I will rebuild it in three days.” Only Andrew, John, James and Peter were actually present at the Olivet discourse and so Matthew, Mark and Luke seem to have received it by word of mouth.

I’m putting forth the possibility that Jesus knew their limitations and knew that the information He spoke to them in the Olivet Discourse would overwhelm them, but that it would nevertheless be written down, and would provide to the world the overarching order of things. But to the Jews, it would also provide the necessary warnings that apply specifically to them.
