From the oldest surviving manuscript of the Book of Revelation, here’s the mark of the beast:

Rev. 14: 9-11 “And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice,

If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”

In St. John’s vision from the Lord, he only saw the mark; so he recorded his image, on the document he wrote. It resembled three Greek letters with a bar over the middle. The middle shape resembles the Greek letter xi: ‘ξ’ which is pronounced gzee or kzee.

Koine Greek letters were also numbers . . .

. . . Writers and scribes used to draw a bar over all or part of a group of glyphs to show when it wasn’t a word. According to the earliest scribal copies of the Book of Revelation, like the one above one from the Codex Vaticanus of 350 A.D., the Mark of the Beast has a bar over the middle figure, the one that appears to be a Greek xi.

What the above example appears to show – from left to right without the bar:

In Koine Greek, ‘χ’ and ‘ξ’ were used as a letters or numbers, but ‘ϛ’ (digamma) had fallen out of use as a stand alone letter by St. John’s time. (But, the terminal form of sigma ‘Σ,’ has evolved over the centuries to look like it.)

How the Mark of the Beast verse is usually translated:

“Wisdom is needed here. Let the one with understanding solve the meaning of the number of the Beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666.” Rev. 13:18 ^_ESV

It seems like many Bible scholars aborted their search for the ‘wisdom’ when they decided that χξϛ, with a bar over it, is merely triple sixes, although it is a true concept since in Hebrew, 6 represents in-completion, and triplets have been used to magnify concepts.

I also refer the meaning of 666, and have come to think more and more that it’s an essential part of understanding the mark, because of what it represents. But I’m also of the opinion that it’s only one of two main layers of the interpretation in our search for wisdom, one that’s kind of taken on a life of its own. I was trying to write a bit more about it, but it became a really deep rabbit hole:

No triplets!

I’m not saying the Antichrist’s name or title won’t add up to six hundred and sixty six, it might; Actually, I strongly suspect it will. It doesn’t have to be triplet for that to happen. But there’s more to it; As you know many prophesies have more than one layer of meaning. Again, I’m saying that the 666 triplet interpretation, is quite meaningful, just not the complete answer to the Rev. 13:18 riddle. Before we move on to the more compelling meaning of Rev 13:18, lets put a few of the pop culture interpretations in perspective:

Nevertheless, Westerners look at it through another lens so ו ו ו is used in pop culture to flaunt or insinuate the Beast. Anything will do for those who want to celebrate his emerging:

God hated when the Jews carried this talisman. It was called the star of Remphan in the Bible. The Free Masonic symbol insinuates it, just with out the horizontal bars. It’s been used from the days of the Egyptian Pharaohs to beckon unclean spirits. This would be one mark to stay away from.

Many ungodly institutions have been integrating 666 into their logos to flaunt their genuine Luciferian leanings. Satan may be using all that flaunting, in part, to distract humanity from the main indication of the Mark of the Beast, the more important one; He’s been dangling 666 all across the world, both mockingly and seriously, from the occult to the secret societies version of it, and most importantly the modern in your face hiding in plain sight versions of it. Institutions like modern CERN, Google, Hollywood etc. as the emerging Beast/Babylon system has been coming out of the closet.

We should not ignore the fact that it says: In the name of Allah submit. From right to left in Arabic, the figure that looks like a ‘sigma/digamma’ means ‘in the name of’ in Arabic. The middle symbol, which looks like a serpent with a bar over it, means Allah, and can found written in different orientations. It’s worn on Islamic head and arm bands, flags, signs, jewelry wall signs, etc..

The figure on the left, shaped like X, is the symbol of Islam.

The crossed swords mean submit or submission.

It’s found on Islamic flags headbands and in many, other places.

Keep in mind it’s submission by force: Islam was imposed by violence from the beginning; That’s how it spread.

Below, you can see the ‘xi’ ^{_{(pronounced kzee or gzee)}} drawn laying on its side facing right. That’s a very common way to see the Arabic word ‘Allah’ portrayed.

This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight solve the meaning of the multitude of the beast, for it is the multitude of a man and his multitude SUBMITS IN THE NAME OF ALLAH. Rev. 13:16

In my opinion, the ‘Serpent King Allah’ image, combined with the two other two symbols, is the Mark of the Beast that St. John saw in his Revelation vision in 95-96 AD.
